Congrats to Irondale

The 2009 addition of the Whistle Stop Festival has come and gone. Mother Nature was not smiling on Irondale.
It started raining around 9 AM and came and went until 5 PM. This caused numerous vendors to not show and many had to leave before 4 PM. Of course, the crowd was discouraged by all the rain.
2009 Whistle Stop Festival Chairman, Christopher Crews Photo by Randy ArcherThe bright spot was shining on the City of Irondale. The chairman, Christopher Crews, did a wonderful job.
He coordinated the vendors, volunteers, and assigned city departments like he had been doing it for years. The volunteers were wonderful. You felt comfortable seeing those white shirts everywhere. The Police and Public Works Department, as usual, did their great job.
Those in attendance had a great time. They found some great bargains, met new friends, and greeted ole friends. When the rain was the worse, they watched football at the Jubilee Ministry.
The weather was awful, but did not eliminate the fun and mission of the Whistle Stop Festival. For those that did not stay for the evening bands - you missed a good rain free party.
Great job, Chris. We look forward to next year.

Even thru out the whole day of rain, everyone @ the whistle stop festival seemed to have a great attitude about how it was run and organized. Great job Chris and all the volunteers.
