SVHS Technical Academies promote talent.

Have you ever heard of the Dabb's Campus of Shades Valley High School?  Do you know how to get there?  So what in the world goes on over there in the woods?

If you have a student attending Irondale Middle School or planning to attend SVHS, now is your chance to learn the answers to these burning questions!

Open House flyerAcross I-459, 2.5 miles from SVHS, the campus of Shades Valley Technical Academies (SVTA) consists of multiple buildings in which very talented and dedicated educators instruct high school students from all over Jefferson County.

The Dabbs campus houses the "Pre-Engineering & Visual Arts Academy" as well as the BE&K and the Automotive Technology programs.  Students learn everything from drawing, photography and graphic design to robotics to welding, commercial wiring, and automotive repair -- and everything in between.  Most of the programs, especially pre-engineering, offer AP and college prep courses.

SVTA also includes the Finance Academy and Theatre Academy, which are administered and housed on the SVHS campus.

We cannot do these programs justice here!  But you can learn more about them this Thursday, February 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the  Pre-Engineering & Visual Arts Academy Open House.
