SV Theatre presents "Ragtime"

The historic Virginia Samford Theatre & Metropolitan Arts Center are proud to continue their successful educational program, STARS (Students Take a Role at the Samford), designed to encourage and train young performers in acting, dance and voice. Students are given the opportunity to experience the thrill of developing their skills in all areas of live theatre with some of the finest arts educators in the Southeast.  Led by award-winning educator Roy Hudson (Shades Valley's theatre director, and Alabama 's 2008-09 Teacher of the Year), the STARS arts education program fosters and showcases the talents of Birmingham 's best young performers.

SVTA Prepares for 2nd Annual Pancake Pigout!

Students from Shades Valley Theatre Academy will cook and serve "the best breakfast deal in town" during their Second Annual Pancake Pigout this Saturday, January 23rd from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. at Applebee's in Brookwood Village (579 Brookwood Village, Homewood).

SVTA Wins Big at State Trumbauer Competition! 

Congratulations to Shades Valley’s theatre students on their outstanding showing at State Trumbauer theatre competition, held at Troy University in December.

SVTA’s production of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” directed and choreographed by senior theatre student Nick Burroughs, was a big hit, one of only 14 shows that qualified for the Alabama one-act competition.
